Christmas Card Competition
Wednesday 29th July 2009
The charity is pleased to offer local artists the opportunity to see their name in lights, or should I say, their design in print! As we find ourselves in the throws of summer, Christmas may seem a long time away. However, whether we like it or not, it is fast-approaching! With this in mind, thoughts turn to our annual Christmas card, which this year will raise funds for the Sheffield Cystic Fibrosis Appeal.
We are looking for local artists to design a Christmas card of their choice and enter it into our competition. This year we are hoping to produce a range of cards so welcome entries in a range of categories (eg cute, religious, contemporary, photographic, humour, winter scenes etc). The cards will be on sale throughout Sheffield, making this a fantastic opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work to a large audience, whilst helping a valuable local cause. Closing date for entries is 11th September, with winning artists being notified no later than 18th September.
To enter, please send your design, along with your name, address, e-mail and telephone number, with the title of your piece, to Kerry Blackett, Arts Co-ordinator, Clock Tower, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, S5 7AU, before 11th September. Alternatively, these can be sent by e-mail to kerry.blackett@sth.nhs.uk marking your e-mail Christmas Card Competition. The Mongol Rally
Tuesday 9th June 2009
Described as the ‘greatest adventure in the world’ the Mongol Rally pits enthusiastic team members against each other, on a course which starts in London and ends in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator. The rally is not a traditional rally race as no recognition is given to the car which crosses the finish line first, no support team is provided and no other arrangements are made (eg accommodation). Teams have to make their own way from start to finish, covering 8,000 to 10,000 miles depending on the route they have taken. Challenges and pitfalls have been put in their way, making this one adventure where anything can happen…
Mark Shakespeare, Anjum Khan and Adrian Phillipson are taking part in this year’s rally to raise valuable funds for Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust. If you would like to support the team in their efforts to raise funds for healthcare in Sheffield, please visit their JustGiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/pros2
