Paul Dungworth Cup Supports Cystic Fibrosis
Monday 29th June 2009
Two teams from Royal Mail’s HR Services took part in a charity football match to raise money for the Sheffield Cystic Fibrosis Appeal.
The Paul Dungworth Cup was held in memory of Royal Mail employee Paul Dungworth, who worked in HR Services in Chesterfield, and was a Cystic Fibrosis patient who sadly passed away in 2008 aged 31.
This was the second year the match, which was held between a team from Chesterfield’s HR Services and a team from Sheffield’s HR Services, had taken place, with Sheffield looking to overturn last years 3-0 defeat. After a lot of hard work on the pitch, the Sheffield side were triumphant in their attempts and took the trophy home at 7-4 winners.
A great day was had by all those involved, both on the pitch and those supporting, with just over £2000 being raised for the CF Appeal. This takes the total amount raised by Royal Mail HR Services to just over £5,000, which is a fantastic achievement.
Event Organisers Danny Schofield & Stephen West would like to thank everybody involved in organising the event, those who helped out on the day, those who came on the day and everyone else who supported the event by buying raffle tickets. Discussions have already started regarding a repeat event in 2010, so watch this space for more information….
