Spend an evening with one of Britain's greatest comic writers, Gervase Phinn

Thursday 9th September, 7pm

Join us for a charity dinner with special guest speaker Gervase Phinn at Baldwins Omega, Sheffield to raise funds for the Sheffield Cystic Fibrosis Appeal.

Gervase Phinn will have you in stitches with his hilarious tales of life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales. The evening will include a four course dinner and a charity auction compared by Andrew Raftery.

Please show your support for the Appeal and come along for an evening of fabulous food, entertainment and music. Tickets are £40 per person – with a group discount for tables of 10.

The World Cup... in wine!!!

1 July 2010 - The Rutland Hotel, Sheffield @ 7PM

SHCT, in association with the Rutland Hotel Sheffield and John Hattersley Wines, is pleased to announce that it is holding a wine tasting evening at the Rutland Hotel (452 Glossop Road, Sheffield, S10 2PY) to raise funds for the Sheffield Cystic Fibrosis Appeal. The evening will feature wines selected from the 8 FIFA world cup groupings and shall be accompanied by a delicious selection of canapés. Please come along and show your support for the Appeal! Tickets cost £19 per person – with a discount offered for all group bookings of 6 people or more. Charity Skydive

Anytime

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience the thrill of skydive?  If so, then here’s your chance to find out…

If you would like to take part in a skydive and would like to raise money for one of the wards or departments at any of the NHS organisations in Sheffield, please contact Fundraiser Carol Denton on 0114 226 3517 or at carol.denton@shct.nhs.uk

Alternatively, Barry Bull is an SHCT supporter who organises annual skydiving events to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at the Jessop Wing. His events take place in June and July each year at an airfield in Hibaldstow, Lincolnshire, and offer participants the chance to experience a tandem skydive with a fully qualified instructor. Anyone can take part and the only requirement is that participants must raise at least £350 in sponsorship money.  

If you are interested in raising money for the Special Care Baby Unit and would like further information about taking part in a skydive in June or July, please contact Barry on 07788 121 802.

Sheffield Lord Mayor's 10k

Do you think you can manage three laps around the track, paths and nearby roads at Don Valley Stadium? If so, then this event is for you! This annual race attracts runners of all abilities meaning that just about anyone can take part. With a good viewing platform for spectators and a great atmosphere on the day, this event is a good one for the whole family.

So if you fancy trying to set a personal best, whilst raising money for a great cause, why not contact Carol Denton at carol.denton@shct.nhs.uk or on 0114 226 3517. It is possible to raise funds for any of the NHS hospitals or organisations in Sheffield, so don't delay and get in contact now!

Sheffield Half Marathon/Sheffield Great Fun Run

The Sheffield Half Marathon is a 10k race starting at 9.30am from Don Valley Stadium, through the streets of Sheffield City Centre, then returning to the stadium for a grandstand finish. The Sheffield Great Fun Run is a lot less intense being only 3k in distant, suited to those of you who like to take it a little easier! The fun run is open to all, including wheelchair entries and children in pushchairs. A certificate is presented to all who partake.

National Three Peaks Challenge

Have you conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks and therefore looking for something rather more challenging? If so, why not give the National Three Peaks Challenge a go! Here you will climb the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowden), walking approximately 26 miles in total. The National Three Peaks is often described as the ultimate goal for walkers throughout the UK, so why not pluck up the courage and join them! Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

If you are an enthusiastic walker looking for your next adventure, why not climb the three highest peaks in Yorkshire (Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough), whilst raising money for any of the NHS organisations in Sheffield. The Three Peaks Challenge covers approximately 25 miles and is therefore not for the faint-hearted! If you think you are up to it and are keen to give it a go, why not contact our fundraising team, to see how you can make a real difference to the lives of NHS patients in Sheffield. Bupa Great Yorkshire Run

The Great Yorkshire Run will take place in Sheffield on Sunday 5th September. Will you be joining the other 8,000 runners making your way from the city centre, out down the fast and flat at Penistone Road, underneath the south stand of Hillsborough Stadium and back down the other side of Penistone Road to a city centre finish? If so, why not raise money for Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust at the same time.

   

You can raise money for any of the wards or departments within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Weston Park, Charles Clifford Dental and Jessop Wing), Sheffield Primary Care Trust or Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. Charity Zip Slide - Baiting Dam, Derbyshire

An exhilarating 60m ride and 200m zip slide from the dam wall into the valley below. You will start your abseil standing on a platform 30m above the ground, zipping across a gap 200m wide, in order to complete this momentous challenge. Have you always fancied giving it a go, or are you just looking for some excitement? Bupa Great North Run

Those of you who intend on applying for a place, or have been lucky enough to secure a place already, may be considering taking part on behalf of a charitable cause. The Whole Hog - Walesby Forest, Nottinghamshire

The Whole Hog is an adventure challenge for groups of friends or work colleagues. The event is made up of foot based activities and involves competitors facing numerous challenges and obstacles around the course. The Whole Hog provides lots of mud and lots of fun, ideal for those of you who are interested in team-building, or for those of you who just want to let your hair down. Offering so much more than just a race, each leg is set in a fantastic location, entails a set of uniquely designed challenges, and makes for a truly memorable experience.

Percy Pud 10k

December 2010

The Percy Pud 10km takes place along the picturesque Loxley Valley on the North West outskirts of Sheffield. The course is a slightly undulating, out and back one, with very few turns, making it ideal for people aiming to set a personal best. Each finisher in the race traditionally receives a Christmas pudding for their efforts. Food and seasonal music are provided after the race, perfect for families who want to make a morning of it.
