Hospital charities work together to benefit patients

Monday 29th September 2007

The League of Friends at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital has awarded a grant of £10,000, to fellow hospital charity Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust.

This money is to benefit the Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal, which aims to fully equip a new ward and day room on P and O floors of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

To show appreciation for the grant Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust will be adding the League of Friends to a “wall of honour” on the new ward. This will be a lasting thank you to all of those who support the appeal. Head of Fundraising for Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust, Emma Dickens, said: “We are extremely grateful to the League of Friends for such a generous grant. We are also pleased to be working with a fellow charity to benefit patients within the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

“The Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal needs to raise a total of £150,000 for new equipment. The money from the League of Friends means we now have more than a third of the total amount needed.”
